Express Entry

Express Entry is the flagship program of Canada’s economic immigration portfolio. Qualified applicants are often approved for permanent residence and have begun their new life within 6-9 months of their initial claim. This program has the shortest processing and approval timeline when compared to other permanent immigration programs. Express entry is available for individuals who qualify for one of the following programs:
  • Federal Skilled Worker
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Canadian Experience Class
  • Provincial Nominee Program
  • ** Requirements to qualify for the PNP program are determined by the province or territory

Provincial Nominee Program

  • This program is for workers who: have the skills, education and work experience to contribute to the economy of a specific province or territory; want to live in that province, and want to become permanent residents of Canada. Each province and territory have its own “streams” (immigration programs that target certain groups) and requirements. For example, in a program stream, provinces and territories may target: students, businesspeople, skilled workers, semi-skilled workers

Federal Skilled Worker

  • One continuous year of work within the last 10 years, in management or an occupation that requires either university or college qualifications.
  • CLB 7
  • Post-secondary education is required
  • Not required however, applicants will earn additional points with a valid job offer.

Federal Skilled Trades Program

  • Have at least 2 years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within 5 years before you apply.
  • Writing – CLB 4 Reading – CLB 4 Listening – CLB 5 Speaking – CLB 5
  • Not required however, those with Canadian post-secondary qualification or an education credential assessment for their foreign qualifications will be given points.
  • Meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the National Occupational Classification, except for needing a certificate of qualification. Have a: valid job offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least 1 year or certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority

Canadian Experience Class

  • Have at least 1 year of skilled work experience in Canada, in the last 3 years before you apply. The work experience must be full-time, or an equal amount in part-time. Have gained work experience by working in Canada while under temporary resident status with authorization to work.
  • CLB 7 – if your National Occupational Classification is 0 or A CLB 5 – if your National Occupational Classification is B
  • Not required however, applicants will earn points for having a post secondary education
  • Not required however, applicants will earn additional points with a valid job offer.
